Supetar - the capital of the island of Brač
 
 
Located on the northern coast of the island, Supetar is the largest settlement with a population of 3500. As the only island town, it is also the administrative, cultural, economic and tourist center of Brač. It is connected to the mainland by ferry line to Split.
 
Numerous rustic villas and an early Christian mosaic from the 6th century testify to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Roman emperors.
An inevitable landmark is parish Church of the Annunciation of Mary from the 18th century with a beautiful bell tower and a church museum.
In city cemetery is the mausoleum of the Petrinović family and above Supetar is one of 19 preserved early Romanesque churches on Brač, the church of St. Luka.
The gallery of the famous sculptor Ivan Rendić who is considered the father of Croatian modern sculpture is at the bottom of the Supetar waterfront. He spent the last years of his life on Brač, and his sculptures, designs, busts are displayed in the gallery.
 
With a rich offer of quality accommodation, a variety of gourmet facilities, entertainment events and numerous recreational activities, Supetar is one of the most visited tourist centers on Brač.
 
Splitska is located in a quiet bay 8 km from Supetar and was the export port for Brač stone from which Diocletian's Palace was built in Split. In nearby quarry of Rasoha still stands the carved figure of Heracles, the work of one of Diocletian's stone-cutters.
 
All the history and millennial life of the island best describes the oldest settlement, Škrip. Prehistorical ramparts, numerous archaeological finds, sarcophagi and reliefs and medieval graves make it one of the most significant archaelogical sites in Croatia.

The Museum of Olive oil presents the history of olive growing on the island as well as the entire traditional olive oil production process, all the traditional tools used for transport, production and storage of olive oil. 

Museum of island Brač is housed in Radojkovic Tower from the 16th century and shows a cross section of island's history and cultural heritage. In the lower part of the museum is a Roman mausoleum, famous for the legend that the wife and daughter of Emperor Diocletian were buried here.

 
Three kilometers from Supetar is Mirca, a small village of olive growers and farmers. The site is dominated by the parish church of Our Lady of the Visitation of 1733. with the altar-palace of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows and a painting of Cyril and Methodius.
