Our little place, as the local people like to call it, is the eternal inspiration and the theme of many songs that are sung even today by the streets and benches. Anytime you can hear the sounds of Dalmatian songs with which local people like to shorten their time and entertain the strangers.
Therefore it is not unusual for Postira to be the birthplace of the famous Croatian poet Vladimir Nazor. Postira has often been the main ingredient of his songs: "I was born in a little town on the shore of a sea channel. In front of it the sea ... from that side of the water, far ahead, is a purple mainland, in town's hinterland a rocky terrain, speckled with the greenery of vineyards and olive groves ... "Nazor's home was the former Lazanić castle, owned by the Brač landowners in the center of the village.
In the same building there is a family souvenir shop of Fine soaps which are handmade and cut in a family run production facility. Each soap is unique and with a gentle touch of olive oil and the richness of Mediterranean herbs, all the essence of the Adriatic is transformed in it.
Our way leads us through the "kogule", a street made of sea boulders placed in different shapes. At the top of the street proudly stands the parish church of St. John, surrounded by a paved square and remains of an early Christian basilica.
Local taverns and family farms are an unavoidable stop on our tour. We will relax in pleasant surroundings with tasty marmalade, homemade cheese, olives, liqueurs and domestic wine.
